Looking forward to my next purchase in 5-8 years to see the changes again.Dave I hope it lasts as long as my old Dewalt tools. I have only used it for a couple of projects but I could tell it out performed my old tools hands down. I am in that same situation again with Makita. I bought this combo kit to replace my 18 volt Dewalt combo kit because the batteries were not holding up and I didn't want to spend the money on new batteries. After plenty of trips to the big box stores I decided that the Makita was the way to go because of battery life, ballance, and weight of the tool. When I bought my Dewalt tools many years ago I couldnt see at the time how they could improve on the quality of the tools.
Great Case and product. 5 Star rating for Makita. My only problem that I had was the straps clips kept bending and coming a part. This has a tool for everything. I love my Makita LCT200W 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 2-Piece Combo Kit. Great Product. I always need something to work on the house or apartment or in the garage. So I went online and bought some Under Armour straps and the problem is all solved.
Just one word "Perfect".Also great service from Amazon. DIY in the market for drill driver combo, go get it. Before these I've used Craftsman's 19.2 V but those are bulk and heavy. Great torque and ergonomics.I used it for 2 hours straight (both drill and impact) for a variety of work and these performed like a champ. Great batter life. I got this at bargain price during 2008 Christmas. Full charge time is 15 minutes. I would get soar after 30 min of use.
They are a replacement for my De-Walt 14.4 XBR drill which failed last summer. You won't be sorry. I got these as a Christmas gift and absolutely love them. The L-ion batteries and drill are very light but you lose no power; in fact, I'd put this set on par wit the De-Walt they replaced.
I called Makita and they confirmed this. Live, spend money, and learn. That is it. The problem lies with the impact driver. It runs too fast for any delicate driving tasks, and because of the impact drilling is out of the question.
Plenty of power and the light is a nice touch. Unfortunately the impact driver is not made for drilling. The product description does not describe the purpose of this tool, which is driving screws and lag bolts. I should have bought a right angle drill instead. Wanted a lightweight alternative to my Millwaukee 18V hammer drill, and this drill is very light.
I thought that I could use this compact unit to drill holes in floor joists (I am an electrician). It has one speed (fast) which can be controlled with the trigger but this is not easy to do.
